Let’s dive into the world of sustainable seafood and lead the way towards a greener future.
Who Am I?
Hi, I am Topaz. I grew up in a southern city in China, and with climate change, we are suffering from rising temperatures every year. People have to stay in air-conditioned rooms all day to survive the sweltering summer.
However, I found that the issue of rising temperatures is not exclusive to my city as I visited the world. The lack of food caused by rising sea levels has led polar bears to go hungry, while hot conditions that have caused Australian woodlands to spontaneously catch fire have caused koalas to lose their habitats. This horrific incident reminded me of Norway, a country places great emphasis on sustainability.
I fell in love with Norway during my visit in 2018. From its stunning landscapes to its love for the environment and delicious seafood, I was captivated. I’m dedicated to learning everything about Norway and sharing my experiences here. Although I’m not a native, I’m eager to immerse myself. Please share your insights and point out any areas that need improvement. Let’s create an engaging resource together.
Purpose Behind Building Happy Sustain
Many people may believe that sustainability is the responsibility of large organizations or businesses, and that individual contributions are insignificant or that adopting more energy-efficient and eco-friendly lifestyles equates to a decrease in quality of life. However, that is far from the truth. We have numerous sustainable living practices and techniques that can maintain a happy and healthy quality of life while being incredibly friendly to the environment and nature. Unfortunately, throughout history, as technology advanced, most individuals gradually forgot how to live harmoniously with the natural world while embracing convenient lifestyles. Additionally, due to information silos, many remain unaware of the sustainable methods employed in other regions or by different communities.
Take seafood as an example. Many people may think it’s a simple matter of catching fish, shrimp, or other seafood from the sea and cooking them at home to eat. However, in reality, it involves many aspects of sustainability. During the fishing stage, both the quantity and methods used are crucial. Overfishing or improper fishing techniques can have irreversible negative impacts on fish populations. In the cooking process, do we simply discard fish heads and bones? In fact, many ingredients that you might consider useless are often the essence of another dish. Making every effort to minimize food waste is vital. Additionally, many people are unaware of how to handle excess ingredients, resulting in seafood spoiling easily and ultimately being discarded, contributing to the burden on our planet.
My goal is to share my experiences and introduce others to fascinating and practical kitchen tips and methods, as well as learn about Norway’s sustainable seafood fishing and aquaculture methods and compile them into an accessible article for everyone to read. Through this, I hope to enlighten everyone about the joy and significance of adopting more environmentally friendly lifestyles. With Happy Sustain, we can live happily while treading lightly on our planet.
